About “One Of A Kind”
“One Of A Kind” is a collaboration between Cameroonian rapper Mic Monsta and AWU Sing Song, bringing together two distinctive voices from Cameroon’s contemporary music scene.
The song appears as Track 15 on Mic Monsta’s The Stars Are Watching, a project that brings together rap, Afro-fusion and contemporary African sounds. “One Of A Kind” has a runtime of approximately 3 minutes and 53 seconds and was produced by Stylish Ray.
The Message Behind the Song
“One Of A Kind” is built around individuality, confidence and the recognition of personal value. The title itself reflects the song’s central idea: being different, distinctive and impossible to simply replicate.
The collaboration gives both artists room to express their personalities while reinforcing a message of self-belief. Rather than following the crowd, the record celebrates the qualities that make an individual stand apart.
AWU’s Contribution
AWU brings his melodic vocal identity to Mic Monsta’s rap-oriented performance. His presence creates a balance between the rhythmic delivery associated with Mic Monsta and the more melodic Afro-fusion sound that has become part of AWU’s musical identity.
The collaboration is another example of AWU working across different corners of Cameroon’s music industry. His catalogue includes collaborations spanning Afro-fusion, Makossa-Fusion, contemporary African pop and hip-hop, making “One Of A Kind” a natural addition to his collaborative body of work.
The Music and Production
Produced by Stylish Ray, “One Of A Kind” combines Mic Monsta’s lyrical approach with AWU’s melodic contribution. The production gives the two artists space to maintain their individual styles while creating a cohesive collaborative record.
The song sits comfortably within The Stars Are Watching, an album that features Mic Monsta alongside several artists from Cameroon and the wider African music scene. Spotify’s catalogue lists “One of a kind” among the album’s collaborations and identifies it as a Mic Monsta and Awu recording.
“One Of A Kind” in AWU’s Catalogue
For AWU, “One Of A Kind” represents another collaboration that demonstrates his ability to move between melodic African music and more rap-driven productions.
His appearance alongside Mic Monsta also connects two different but complementary aspects of Cameroon’s contemporary sound: lyrical hip-hop and melodic Afro-fusion. Together, they create a record that highlights individuality while showcasing the versatility of both artists.
