About the Song

“Point Of View (Finisham)” is a 2024 single by Cameroonian singer-songwriter AWU, released on March 15, 2024 under Moon Child Music. With a compact runtime of approximately 2 minutes and 46 seconds, the song presents another chapter in AWU’s evolving musical journey following his Sounds Of Heritage era.

The title itself, “Point Of View (Finisham),” signals a song built around perspective, personal expression and the way people interpret situations differently. The use of “Finisham” adds a distinctly Cameroonian character to the record, connecting AWU’s contemporary sound with the language and everyday expressions that shape his musical identity.

Story and Meaning

“Point Of View (Finisham)” explores the idea that people can experience the same situation yet see it from completely different perspectives. AWU uses the song to present his own outlook while encouraging listeners to consider how personal experiences, opinions and circumstances influence the way we understand life.

The record carries a confident and conversational character, reflecting AWU’s ability to turn everyday observations into music that feels familiar to his audience. Rather than being restricted to one particular experience, the song leaves room for listeners to interpret its message through their own point of view.

Music and Style

The song continues AWU’s contemporary African sound while maintaining the distinctive identity that has developed throughout his catalogue. His music is broadly identified with Kossa-Fusion, a style he associates with Makossa combined with Afrobeat and other contemporary influences.

At just under three minutes, “Point Of View (Finisham)” delivers its message in a concise format, making it a direct and accessible addition to AWU’s post-Sounds Of Heritage catalogue.

Release and Recognition

Released in 2024, “Point Of View (Finisham)” became one of the recognizable singles in AWU’s catalogue alongside records such as “Yayayo,” “Sidomina,” “If A Can Can” and songs from Sounds Of Heritage. Apple Music and Spotify both list it among AWU’s official singles.

The song also appeared on a Cameroon Top 40 chart in August 2024, where “Point Of View ‘Finisham’” was listed among the country’s tracked songs.
